While my philosophy of education is always adapting and changing with time and experience I have a foundation as to who I want to be as a teacher and what I hope my classroom will be like. My teaching philosophy consists of focusing not only on the academic side of education but also teaching my students skills that will allow them to maneuver themselves through life such as social and collaboration skills, problem-solving and critical thinking skills, communication skills, among many, many others. Along with teaching these essential skills, as a teacher, I hope to be understanding, thoughtful, caring, loving, provide not only guidance but also a safe and nurturing environment. I hope to be a teacher who not only works well with the ones inside the classroom but also with the ones outside of it. I think it is tremendously important to build relationships with everyone involved in a child’s education because they all play an important role to give the child the highest chance to succeed as possible. As a teacher, it is important for me to recognize that not every student is alike, they vary in countless aspects and I hope to be a teacher that not only acknowledges these qualities but also helps them succeed in the best possible ways. I know I am not going to be the most perfect and ideal teacher in the world, but as a function of my professional standards of practice I will always recognize, honor and serve the families, as well as honoring cultural and diversity.
My experiences using technology is rather mediocre. Growing up I had a lot of exposure to technology but up until I was in high school I only used pencil and paper for school work. Starting my freshmen year I was given a school computer. I use a computer daily, and when I do not how to do something I skower the internet to find a solution or ways to use different programs. In education I like using paper and pencil but I know it is important for students to have exposure to technology and building knowledge to use it.
"Technology integration" to me means using technology to enhance basic classroom procedures. Integrating technology is using different types of technology such as computers, mobile devices such as smartphones and iPads, digital cameras, social media, networks, internet, software applications, etc.
Technology has become a detrimental component to the classroom. With being remote because of COVID-19 and resources found and used daily from the internet. Right now in schools, students are issued a device (chrome books or apple iPads) and this is where they use software applications such as ZEARN, Clever, Prodigy, Mobymax, etc., and access to their school's online resource management system for online learning and classwork (Canvas, Google Classroom, Blackboard, etc.). I can only assume this will be something that is still implemented when I have a classroom so that will be one of the definite ways technology is used in my future classroom. I will also use online resources to not only access lessons but also teach them (google slides, Kahoot, nearpod, etc.) I also would like to allow students the opportunity to learn how to navigate and use different technology like podcasts, videos, editing softwares, different presentation media, etc. While I do like pencil and paper and will use both paper and technology I think my future classroom will be a balance of both.
