ISTE Student Use Blog Posting

The technology I noticed and observed most throughout my time spent in the classroom is their school issued iPads. I observed the students using their iPads to access the internet for research and to do their online independent work (Zearn). The ISTE Student standards that are being covered by the students' use of technology are 1.1 Empowered Learner and 1.3 Knowledge Constructor. The standard 1.1 is covered because the students take an active role choosing, achieving, and demonstrating competency in their learning goals by using Zearn and accessing the internet for research. The standard 1.3 is covered because they are using both Zearn and the internet to access knowledge along with creating meaningful experiences. The teacher is meeting the ISTE Educator Standards 2.5 Designer, 2.6 Facilitator, and 2.7 Analyst. The standard 2.5 is covered because the teacher provides the students with tasks that allow them the opportunity for students to use technology to further their knowledge....

Reflective writing: A basic introduction

Technology is always changing because as humans we are always changing. We adapt to what is available and then create more technology that is more accessible, easier, quicker, and more efficient. Technology from 10 years ago is completely different from today and it has advanced because we ‘get used to what we have now’. In schools we used textbooks and paper now we incorporate iPads and online resources.

     While my  philosophy of education is always adapting and changing with time and experience I have a foundation as to who I want to be as a teacher and what I hope my classroom will be like. My teaching philosophy consists of focusing not only on the academic side of education but also teaching my students skills that will allow them to maneuver themselves through life such as social and collaboration skills, problem-solving and critical thinking skills, communication skills, among many, many others. Along with teaching these essential skills, as a teacher, I hope to be understanding, thoughtful, caring, loving, provide not only guidance but also a safe and nurturing environment. I hope to be a teacher who not only works well with the ones inside the classroom but also with the ones outside of it.
